My wife's family is from Kyiv and they were negatively affected by the war. They no longer have jobs and even had a family member die during the Russian occupation. An 82 year old grandmother was found dead on March 25th in the village of Ivankiv (south of Chernobyl but north of Kyiv) during the Russian occupation. A neighbor found her and barried her in her backyard.

Her family members were not able to reach her while the Russian soldiers were in her village. A few weeks later, the Russians retreated and her son was able to visit her grave and found out what happened. During the occupation, all pharmaceutical stores were shut down, all bridges blown up, and all communications were knocked out. She had no medications for her ailments. With the stress of the war and the Russian soldiers going house to house taking food and supplies, her body gave out.
